Our approach to physical therapy is over 20 years in the making
Pediatric PT specializes in treating and caring for toddlers, babies, children and teenagers. The goal of pediatric PT is to improve movement and gait patterns, reduce pain, restore function, recover from injury and prevent disability. When working with children, physical therapists use play-based activities and exercises that help children increase their strength, range of motion, flexibility, balance, endurance, coordination and motor skills.
We will work to help your child increase endurance and strength or return to their previous function after an injury. Our physical therapists can help your child:
- Gain body awareness, postural control and alignment.
- Participate in community recreational activities and sports.
- Improve coordination and balance.
- Increase their range of motion.
- Learn how to use adaptive and assistive equipment.
- Meet developmental milestones.
- Let our team work with your child through physical therapy to help them improve their abilities.
How it Works
Schedule a Consultation
Connect with us online or by phone to schedule an evaluation. After telling us a little more about your child and their needs, we’ll match you with one of our occupational therapists who will guide you through next steps.
Get a Comprehensive Evaluation
We conduct evaluations in the convenience and comfort of your home through parent interviews and clinical observation of your child’s sensory processing, motor coordination, behavior, and other assessments suited for your child’s needs. The initial evaluation takes between 2-3 hours, depending on your child’s needs.
Connect with your Therapist
We work hard to foster an empathetic and open relationship with you and your child. We work as a team during each session to ensure you see and understand the strategies we’re using with your child so you can carry them over into your home routine.
This is why we do what we do
"You were truly a lifesaver with my son Aaron Rodriguez!! You helped him understand how he could control his “craziness” by doing simple exercises and techniques to reduce his anxiety. You helped me as the parent to be a better advocate for him educating others about Aaron’s sensory integration. Never thought when we first starting seeing you Aaron would be thriving and almost graduating college! He always remembers his Kavitha N Krishnan-Shields and how patient and loving she was and dedicated in helping him with the simplest to the most complicated issues, whether he was in the classroom, playing baseball, or being home. Thank you Kavitha. We will forever be grateful to you!!"

Why do you use play therapy?
Play is an integral part of your child’s development. Through play, kids learn to communicate, manage their emotions, gain valuable sensory input, and learn to make sense of the world around them.
After a thorough evaluation, your child’s occupational therapist will set therapeutic goals, decide on what limits may be necessary, and formulate an action plan for how to proceed with treatment.
We can learn a lot from how your child interacts with different toys. Your child may use play to act out fears and anxieties, as a coping mechanism, or to problem-solve. We’ll use our observations as a guidepost to inform every phase of your child’s treatment.
We know every child is unique, it’s why we tailor our therapy programs around your child’s individual needs. As therapy progresses, goals are usually reassessed and adjusted as necessary.
